Intrapreneurship
Intrapreneurship is not about being a better leader or a better manager. It is not about achieving or about reaching a pinnacle and proving something. It is about managing risk and yet transforming bold decisions into action. It is about handling boundaries and being able to scale them. It is about taking care of the organization with all its intricacies and yet bringing in a different view point. It is about change. Intrapreneurship in that sense is a little different than entrepreneurship which also practices risk taking and innovation. However, entrepreneurs have a lot more freedom as they are more on their own.
As an entrepreneur, I have always felt the need to have like-minded people working with me. I have had good fortune of working with several of these intrapreneurs either at Praj or outside Praj with me on my various missions. Hence, I decided to recognize this different breed of leaders/managers, not just in business, but also on non-profit, public service organizations through instituting an award which is now called the Maha-Intrapreneur Awards .
As the business go more global and talent becomes dearer, the need for Intrapreneurs will be felt more intensely. There is an urgent need for organizations to promote this concept and embrace it.
